Transforming Lives
Compassionate Psychiatric Care
My Professional Journey
My Professional Journey
From Estonia’s Advanced Healthcare System to Switzerland
I’m Elika Kookmaa, a psychiatric nursing professional holding both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Nursing from Estonia’s leading health sciences universities.
Estonia’s healthcare system is recognized across Europe for its rigorous clinical standards and pioneering digital health infrastructure — and that foundation shaped who I am as a nurse.
Over several years of hands-on clinical work, I’ve gained experience across acute adult psychiatry, child and adolescent mental health, and community-based psychiatric care, including substance use assessment using structured tools like DIVA-5 and motivational interviewing.
I’ve conducted independent intake interviews, collaborated closely with psychiatrists and psychologists, and supported patients through complex treatment journeys.
Now based in Switzerland, I’m deepening my expertise within the Swiss rehabilitation setting, working toward German B2 certification and full professional recognition.
I see this chapter not as starting over, but as building on a strong clinical foundation in a new and inspiring environment.

Committed to Continuous Growth
Relocating from Estonia to Switzerland is more than a career move — it’s a commitment to expanding my clinical perspective. I’m currently refining my German language skills toward B2 level and navigating the Swiss credential recognition process, while actively contributing as a care professional in a psychiatric rehabilitation setting. Every day brings new learning, and I embrace that fully.
